Unions and Bridgend council issue joint statement on pay proposals

UNISON, Unite, GMB and Bridgend County Borough Council have today issued a joint statement about the proposals on staff pay.

The joint statement followed a meeting to discuss the authority’s proposals for freezing staff pay, which form part of the council’s plans for delivering savings of more than £36m over the next few years.

At the meeting, the council agreed to consider a number of alternative ideas put forward by the trade unions for achieving the savings.

These alternative ideas are currently being compiled and, once submitted, will be carefully analysed by the council in greater depth.

Further joint statements from the council and the trade unions will be issued as matters progress over the next fortnight.
