Stand up for your local government services on 4 February

UNISON is calling on all branches to hold lunchtime rallies or meetings on 4 February to speak up for local government pay and services.

The day of action comes before the Local Government Employers meeting on 13 February to decide how much they will offer local government workers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in response to the pay claim.

Head of local government Heather Wakefield urged members to get involved saying: “You need to build up local pressure and make some noise to support our pay claim before the employers meet up.”

At the same time, cuts are having a devastating impact on council jobs and services. Ms Wakefield continued: “There is an alternative to the cuts. Our members and service users should not have to pay the price for the mess the bankers caused.”
