NPower should come clean over job loss threat

UNISON, the UK’s largest union, is calling on bosses at NPower to ”come clean” over rumours that the German owned energy company is to axe 2,000 jobs and outsource work abroad.

UNISON National Officer for Energy, Matthew Lay, said:

“NPower workers are up in arms about rumours that the company is about to axe 2000 jobs.  In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the last thing that its workers need is news that their jobs are under threat.  The company should come clean and put an end to the fear and uncertainty spreading across the workforce.”

Npower is a highly profitable company and its chief Paul Massara is paid nearly £1m.  The company has just announced dual fuel price rises of 10.4% but they have been found to have overcharged nearly 3.7m customers and who they owe more than £100 each.
