Conference believes our members are often placed in a vulnerable position when they are victims of domestic abuse. The employer tends to follow their own domestic abuse policy which relates to that of a service provider and not that of an employer. The absence of such policies often leaves our members open to further vulnerabilities at home and at work.
Conference therefore instructs the Service Group Executive to:
1)develop guidance in association with UNISON’s Membership Participation Unit on welfare based Police Staff policies for our members that are separate to operational police policies and procedures;
2)supply information to support our members who are subject to domestic abuse;
3)be more proactive within the union and involve/liaise with other groups and self organised groups to assist us in achieving our aims.
