UNISON Northern Ireland has sent a strong message of support to their colleagues in England ahead of the NHS day of action on 13 October.

UNISON Northen Ireland’s head of bargaining and representation Anne Speed said: “UNISON Northern Ireland has not balloted our members in the health services for strike action over pay.

“However, we would like to extend our support for our colleagues in England who will take action on 13 October to fight against the insufficient pay increase imposed on health service workers.

“UNISON Northern Ireland, along with other unions, has written to the previous health sinister to ensure that the pay increase imposed in England is not imposed on the health service workers in Northern Ireland.

“We demand a decent pay increase for NHS staff. We are awaiting the former Minister’s response and further unreasonable delays will be addressed at an upcoming meeting of our health wervice group.”
