How you can help local government members

Local government and school members on NJC terms and conditions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be taking strike action on 10 July.

But every member of UNISON lives in a local authority area and relies on services provided by colleagues working for them.

And every member not involved in the the strike can support those colleagues.

In a recent eFocus we asked that all of our members lobby councillors, asking them to support their workers’ claim for fair pay.

You can do this by emailing your local councillor via a link on our local government pay campaign web pages – this will will also help you identify your local councillor.

Local government pay – get involved

UNISON head of local government Heather Wakefield said: ”Please do everything you can to ensure that this message gets around and as many members as possible email their councillors.”

“If we could flood email inboxes with messages of support, it could provide very useful and effective pressure.”
