Are there stars in your school?

We know it takes a whole team to make a school a safe and happy place for children to learn, but support staff are often tucked away behind the scenes: the unsung heroes of our children’s education.

UNISON speaks out for more  250,000 members working in our schools. That’’s why we’re holding a national celebration day for school support staff on Friday 28 November, called Stars In Our Schools.

This follows the success of last year’s celebration day, in which thousands of schools across the UK took part.

We are encouraging schools to mark the day by planning a special event such as an assembly or party.

For loads more information, ideas and resources, visit our dedicated pages – and remember, this is a great opportunity to recruit even more school staff into UNISON.

As part of the campaign, the union is also carrying out the biggest ever survey of school support staff to get a national picture of pay, conditions, training and issues at work.

Please help us circulate the survey to as many school staff as possible. If you work in a school, please take five minutes to make sure your voice is heard and ask your colleagues too – even if they’re not a UNISON member.

The survey is anonymous and can be completed online.
