National agreements relating to senior management
The pay and conditions of employment for over 1.4million local government service workers, including senior managers is determined by the National Joint Council (NJC) for Local Government Services. Details are in the NJC National Agreement on Pay and Conditions of Service Handbook or the Green Book.
How we are organised
The Chief Officers and Senior Manager Committee meets four times a year. This committee is composed of two representatives per region, one covering the scope of the Chief Officers JNC and the other covering the senior managers who may be on the top points of the NJC scales for local government services or on locally determined management grades. It elects UNISON representatives to our three seats on the Staff side of the Chief Officers JNC and sets policy on issues covered by that body. The Service Group Executive (SGE) has two representatives on this committee.
