Political education

Political education helps raise awareness about how we can help challenge attacks on public services, and campaign for greater rights for working people.

We produce resources to help raise awareness and get discussions started.

Workshops

Workshops can be run in branches by lay tutors, branch officers or organisers. They include:

  • myth-busting;
  • lobbying;
  • starting a conversation;
  • make a difference today.

You can make a difference postcards

These are designed to encourage activity on key campaign areas and can be used on courses or in one-to-one conversations with members to gain political influence and speak up for public services.

The postcards can be ordered from via the online catalogue, quoting stock number 3003.

Wallcharts

Our  A1 wallcharts are available free of charge and cover a number of subjects.

  • Boom, bust, fightback!
  • Worth defending – a short history of the welfare state.
  • Forward, still further to go – a short history of women in unions and in society.

If you would like us to send you one, email our learning and orgnaising services department at learningandorganisingenquiries@unison.co.uk.

We have developed new workshop activities to accompany our wallcharts to encourage learners to think about the social, political and economic background to public services and the challenges we face today.
