The NHS consortium win in Cambridgeshire is victory for patients says UNISON

News today that elderly care services in Cambridgeshire will remain under NHS management and control has been greeted as a victory for the NHS, for campaigners and for patients.

Christina McAnea, UNISON Head of Health said:

“UNISON campaigned long and hard to stop this dangerous experiment from becoming a reality and having a damaging impact on patients. This procurement exercise like many others in the NHS are hugely expensive. And this is an expense the NHS can’t afford.

“While it’s a victory for UNISON, for campaigners, for patients and for the NHS, the Government must stop this drive to sell off our NHS. At times when budgets are being cut and staff overworked the money should be spent on the service not on pointless procurement processes.”
